Rec Services | Spring Break Trip to Haiti
Spring Break Trip to Haiti
After a few “pipe dream” conversations between Rec Services’ Graeme Horton and student Tim Wray, they knew they had to make a Spring Break trip to Haiti a reality for Trinity Western University students. And so it is.
The newest Global Projects missions trip is a Spring Break trip to Haiti led by the pair. Global Projects does offer a missions trip to Haiti in the summer, but this trip is a way to allow more students who aren’t able take a month off in the summer to still have the chance to serve in the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
The trip promises to be an exciting mix of construction projects, sports camps, and feeding programs where approximately 1000 children will be fed. There will even be an opportunity to take part in a mass wedding where 25 couples will be married in one day! The team will stay at Camp Mahanaim, located 30 minutes from Les Cayes. Participants will also be given the opportunity to see God’s beautiful creation with excursions to waterfalls and beaches.
When asked why this trip was so important to him, Wray responded, “After living in Haiti for 8 years, so many missions groups have gone through and not one group has left without at least one participant saying the trip changed their life in some way. I want TWU students to have the chance to experience that. They have such potential for blessing the ministry that’s going on there.”
A team of 10-15 will go, and the trip is approximately $1700. Horton and Wray both promise this trip will change your life.
