Happy 36th Birthday Randy Moss! The self-proclaimed “greatest wide receiver of all-time” was a non-factor for the San Francisco 49ers the Super Bowl and will likely have to retire without a Super Bowl ring.
As absurd as his self-aggrandizing claims were (Jerry Rice says hi), he may actually be the second best receiver to ever play; he is a lock to make the Hall of Fame the first time he appears on the ballot. I’m not sure what Moss has planned for his party, but I know he paid for it with “straight cash, homie.”
Happy Anniversary to the National
Negro Baseball League! On February 13, 1920, the Negro baseball league was formed, setting in motion the process that would allow Jackie Robinson to break baseball’s colour barrier and pave the way for racial equality in sports. The league began to crumble in 1949 and ultimately folded in 1962 but its humanitarian legacy lives on because of the opportunities they created for all minority athletes.
Happy Trails to dominant college basketball teams!
When Indiana was upset by Illinois last Thursday, it marked the sixth straight week that the number one team has lost. Duke now re-ascends to number one for the third time this season and will look to break the streak beginning tonight against North Carolina as the biggest rivalry in college athletics resumes in Durham.
