Will you be mine?
A library love letter.
Since the first day I saw you walking hesitantly toward me, your new Trinity Western University lanyard swinging from your neck, I knew it was meant to be. Even in my old age, you found me inviting.
My heart skips a beat when I hear you coming, bringing with you the sweet smell of rain and coffee. Again and again, you never fail to spend time with me, even though at times you’re reluctant. You bring life to my existence. Without you, I am dark and empty. You are my only purpose in life.
We have seen each other in the good times and the bad, through thick and thin. Through tears and little sleep. Through mental breakdowns and failed tests. Through research papers and late nights. I will never give up on you. Even when we don’t agree. Like when you’re Tolkien out loud too much, or when you spill hot tea on me, like when I make you mad at times or slightly crazy. But be comforted knowing that I was made just for you.
For those few that resent me, I will not give up on you… I will woo you with my sturdy shelves and enticing view. I promise not to book it out of your life anytime soon. I promise not to read into it when you hang out with Denny’s more than with me. I promise not to be so serious all the time. We can play games like Wiki Scavenger hunts and twister… jk, Rowling around the ground is generally frowned upon. But steadfast, I will be. So put away your sparknotes and give me a chance.
Don’t even give the cafeteria a second look; all she wants is your money. The lower caf is just looking for late night hangouts. The Atrium has commitment issues, she simply wants you to stop through quickly. Study rooms are boring and dull. I could tell you stories for hours on end and won’t use you for anything but quality time.
So to those that love me, hate me, and a little bit of both, will you be my Valentine?
